Vocabulary game with pictograms

“Com es diu?” (“What is it called?”) is a free vocabulary game with no sign-up: the pupil sees a pictogram and has to work out what it is called. You pick the topic and the level, and every correct answer earns stars.

Who it's for

For practising vocabulary in nursery, primary, special education and reception classes, alone or with the whole class. Because every word comes with its pictogram, pupils who can't read yet, or who are learning the classroom language, can play too. There is nothing to prepare: the topics come ready-made (animals, food, clothes...).

How to use it

  1. Pick a topic from the library and one of the four levels.
  2. The pupil sees the pictograms and has to find the matching word: by tapping it, matching it with its picture or typing it, depending on the level. They can listen to the word as many times as they like.
  3. Every correct answer earns stars. If you are signed in, you can follow live how each pupil in the class is playing.

Variations

  • Four levels: from tapping the word that matches the picture, to matching words and pictures or typing it on the keyboard after listening to it.
  • The words can be shown and played in another language, useful in reception classes or for learning languages.
  • When signed in, you can choose which topics each class sees, rename a card and replace a pictogram with a photo of your own.
